Dear members and friends of Bromley Art Society.

I hope you are enjoying your Easter break. Our 1st Friday demonstration
was postponed until this Friday because of Easter. This Friday at the
Daylight Inn 7pm am am delighted to say we have a brilliant vibrant
artist in Susan Clare to provide us with a demonstration.

Susan says "I paint in watercolours, acrylics and mixed media. Right
now, I'm steering my paintings towards improving ocean awareness.  I've
spent most of my adult life in Jamaica, so I paint my tumbling tropical
garden, faces full of character and the Caribbean reefs.  I add
atmosphere with ambiguous passages of texture and light, or colour and
pattern.  I want people to feel connected with and protective of our
natural world".

In June 2018, Susan was awarded Winner in two categories of the SAA
Artist fo the Year 2018 (Animal & Wildlife and Water scenes, Boats &
Seascapes)

She has exhibited in many solo and group shows in Jamaica, Florida,
London, (including the Mall Galleries), Chelmsford and The Beecroft, in
Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

Visit Susan's, Website https://www.susanclare.art/home

Come and join us. It is free for members but friends of members are also
most welcome for a small £6.00 entrance fee. If you have not renewed
your membership yet just come along and renew on the night.

Doors open at 7pm. Hope to see your there.

Kind Regards,

Paul

Chairman & Membership Secretary.

"Coast" by Susan Clare
I’ve been working on a new body of work this summer (2019) which
culminated in this semi-abstract seascape in acrylic on canvas with
mixed media and found objects incorporated into the surface of the
painting.  Items such as nylon mesh bags and string, reminding us of how
our food-packaging is impacting the health of the oceans on a daily
basis.  Coffee grounds, great for a natural fertiliser, as also creating
texture in this coastal scene.
