Dear All

Good to see everyone last week and see the interpretations of Meeting/Spring in the Garden as well as the start of a lively discussion on Plein Air painting. If anyone would like me to post their works to the website please email them to mailto:exhibitions at bromleyartsociety.org.uk <mailto:exhibitions at bromleyartsociety.org.uk>

Please note there is no Art Matters Meeting on Good Friday, the Friday following will be a demo evening and we will be back on 16th April with the challenge below:

If you saw last week’s Grayson Perry’s Art Club you will have seen Phillippa Perry painting a set of tiles based on images of work in Art History. So I though why not our own Art History challenge. I suggest that over the next couple of weeks you create something inspired by Art History. This can be a modern day interpretation of an old master - Beckenham Place park as seen by Turner? Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe as a 2021 socially distanced picnic? Your own cubist still life? (Corey D’Augustine’s YouTube video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGZYfSzvPvs <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGZYfSzvPvs> is a good introduction to how to) Alternatively it can be really interesting to get under the skin of a work you like by making a copy. The choice is yours.

If you are looking for inspiration the ArtUK website is a good start and I have found the National Galley allows you to download reasonable quality images (I leave it to you to decide whether to succumb to making a donation for doing so).

As usual any media is valid.

Look forward to seeing your entries.

Deborah
