'Twas the Night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a sound could be heard but keyboard and mouse
The BAS Newsletter was late once again, I do fear
The Chairman was weeping "Our Exhibition is near"

The rules were all settled in Microsoft Word
With provisions made for entries absurd
And Tennyson's verse set up such a clatter
That rhyming and scansion seem'd no more to matter
Ring out the old, ring in the new
Ring out Covid, Wring out the EU

Ring out all Tiers, Bring Artists In
Let's Paint and Draw and sculpt once ag'in
The Trump is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true
You artists must all know what to do
Ring out the darkness , Ring in the light
Ring in the love of truth and right,

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!

By all of which I mean to say that the instructions for our competition
exhibition are attached. You should by now have wrapped yourself a few
pencils, brushes and paints under the tree just in case Santa misses you
out. Pour a small something, draw yourself up to a Youtube video of a
crackling fire and think about some art. I shall be taking my own advice
- I have not managed to paint anything since March, but if I can't paint
during a Tier 4 Christmas I shall give up.

This online competition and exhibition is a new format, so please keep
an eye out on the website and these newsletters for any changes to the
arrangements.

If I can make one serious point, please give some thought to my health
service colleagues, some of whom are in desperate straights. Christine
and I went for our allotted exercise yesterday in Beckenham Place Park
and people were all over the paths with not a thought of distancing.
This is serious. Have a look at

https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map and play with
the time slider at the top as well as putting in your postcode and
zooming right in.

Stay home, Eat Drink and Be Artistic. We hope to see the fruits of your
labours on 8th Jan when we have a social zoom meeting. Details will of
course follow.

Have a Merry and Safe Christmas and let's make 2021 a Happier Year for
all of us and those around us.

Adrian
