Thank you for the kind comments about the quiz, which was intended to be
a bit different! It was evidently quite tricky too with a top score of
only 31/62. I learned a lot compiling it. The winners were

1st prize: Team Masters - Deborah and Ian

2nd prize (tied): Brenda Parsons and Jan Wilson

Their prizes are on the way. Congratulations to them - and to all who
took part.

===========================================

We meet again on *Friday January 8th - 2021*. We don't normally have a
January meeting but we are taking advantage of Zoom to have a social
only event. Our last demonstration turned into one of these to some
extent and was clearly popular, so save a mince pie or a turkey sandwich
and a glass of something and join us. It would be good to see if you had
any art related presents, or what you are working on. The only art I
have done since March has been with my young grandsons. The last
painting that I was working on before that is rather large and is
sitting in my studio intimidating me. I may have to burn it to move on.

I shall send the Zoom link nearer the time.

DON'T FORGET TO RENEW

Please renew your subscriptions as soon as possible and don't all wait
until the last moment. Give our treasurer and membership secretary a
break! Please pay by bank transfer if at all possible. Our income is
down because we have had not exhibitions, but many of our fixed costs
remain. Please give more than the minimum if you can, to help support
your Art Society for the future. See

https://www.bromleyartsociety.org.uk/members/membership-renewal-2021/

for all details.

===========================================

The website is going through a period of rapid improvement. Yes we have
been predicting that for some time, but like everything else Covid
stopped our development work.  I am really grateful to Deborah, Jules
and Paul who have led on this. I hope this will be one of the last text
only newsletters using the old system. It's not complete yet, but do
have a look from time to time.

===========================================

Ring out the Old, Ring in the New. Details of our competition and
exhibition on this theme will follow shortly. How will *you* represent
this classic theme?

I may have sent this out before, but Bernie Victor contributed this:

I wonder if you or other BAS members know about #draweachother ?
#draweachother is a Zoom group who meet every Wednesday evening to draw
each other. One member poses for 15 minutes and everybody else draws or
paints him.There is no compulsion about posing , it is purely
voluntary.. The session starts at 7.15 and goes on till 9.30, with a
break halfway so you get a chance to do six sketches. The standard goes
between beginners and experts. There is no tuition, you just pick your
preferred medium and draw or paint. It is great fun and good drawing
practise. People are very friendly and come from all over the UK and
from around the world. Numbers are gradually growing. Last week we had
47 people from afar  a field as Kuala Lumpur and Bolivia. You can join
in and leave at any time. NO CHARGE. It is completely FREE. Enough said
. If anyone is interested send an email to john at pipal.net
<mailto:john at pipal.net> and he will send you a weekly email giving sign
on information. I strongly advise having a go, it is great fun, and you
meet artists from all over the world in the half way break-out rooms. No
Zoom expertise is needed, you just click the link and you are in.

Hope to see you there. Keep well.
