S T E W A R D I N G - A Plaintive Cry

The BAS Committee are sure that members consider it a reasonable expectation that all exhibitors will agree to serve as stewards at some time during any exhibition in which they are taking part. It has to be said that some members are very elusive when the rotas are being agreed which is very unfair on a few others who find themselves doing multiple stints. At the current show at Ewell one committee member has had to do seven sessions. Please be more forthcoming in the future.

Of course we are grateful for those who do volunteer but even to some of them a plea for improvement is necessary. Too often it seems that the rules set down for stewards after a good deal of thought by those with years of experience are not read. Or if read, they are not followed. It is important that these rules be followed, especially those which deal with the recording of money and its handling at the end of your period of duty. Failure to follow the instructions can result in a good deal of additional work by the relevant Committee members and sometimes a loss of money for the society. If Stewards are in doubt as to how they are expected to act please contact the Exhibition organiser.

The next scheduled exhibition needing stewards will be in the new Stable Gallery at Hall Place Bexley. It is a pleasant venue with a restaurant adjoining with beautiful grounds, a garden centre and plenty of parking. We hope that more members will submit work and offer to make this a successful event.
