<p>Dear Members,</p>
<p>Firstly, if you have not had the chance yet I recommend visiting
the our Paxton Art Exhibition just opposite Crystal Palace rail
station. Relax, visit with a friend, and take time with a beverage
to visit this cafe, which is a favourite of local artist. The
exhibition runs throughout October.</p>
<p>Secondly we have delayed our normal 1st Friday demo and get
together to a week later. We have a very special premium
demonstration and entertaining presentation for this Friday at the
Daylight Inn. 7pm for 7.30 start, Station Square, Pett's Wood,
Orpington, BR5 1LZ. As always members are free but can bring
friends for £6.00 payable at the door please.</p>

members and friends by Curtis Tappenden, a renowned artist and
performer.<br>

Dr Curtis is an author & illustrator who has for the past 28
years been drawing for magazines, books, advertising, newspapers
& packaging. He is also part of the design team at The Mail On
Sunday newspaper, in London. In 1998, he scaled the work up by
designing and making the sets for a national touring play about
the life of Frankie Howerd, entitled ‘Titter Not!’ His
watercolours are frequently exhibited in galleries and shows
throughout the country, and many paintings are in international
collections.<br>
<br>
For the past ten years he has been writing books, penning for the
national art press and The Mail On Sunday travel section, and has
23 books published. Curtis also lectures in Further Education and
Creative Writing at the University For The Creative Arts in Kent
and Surrey, visits art clubs around the country with his
unconventional presentations and is a performance poet and
painter. His latest project involves drawing live in Britain’s
circuses. He has illustrated this season’s brochure for Zippos
Circus.<br>
