Dear Members and friends,

After an exhausting, but tremendous six weeks exhibiting at the
Glades, this week we return to our monthly 1st Friday
demonstrations. Updates regarding our exhibition(s) will be
coming in a separate newsletter but we hope to have a post Glades
get together for everyone involved in making it a success and a
chance for new members to meet other members. It is likely to be
on a Thursday evening in a central Bromley venue. There may be a
few awards involved! If you are interested in attending please
let me know by responding to me at

Fridays Art Demonstration

This week we have local artist Sarah Karen who some of you may
have seen at the Warren a few weeks ago. She will be giving an
exclusive live demonstration in alcohol inks and later in the
evening move onto a canvas demonstration.

Sarah's style of art is still very much evolving, but she has
found her favourite medium to be oil paints, so you will find they
feature a lot in her repertoire. Sarah still experiments with
other forms and mediums, alcohol inks being another favourite of
hers and very very different from oils.

"I take my inspiration from my surroundings, trying to capture
colours, movement and architecture of nature onto canvas. You
will often find me taking photographs of clouds, flowers,
landscapes and seascapes on my daily walks in the beautiful Kent
countryside with my dog and husband. I tend to stick with
Impressionism as a style, which from time to time slips into
realism, depending on what I am painting, but whatever I paint, I
paint with my heart, capturing the emotion of the moment,
enveloping you into the scene. So whether its slightly moody and
atmospheric or still and peaceful, it’s more than a painting, but
an experience".

This will be held again at the Function room at the Daylight Inn,
Pett's Wood, Station Square, Orpington, BR5 1LZ. Doors will open
at 7pm and the event will finish around 9:30pm. This is free to
all members but members are most welcome to bring a guest for an
additional £6.00 on the door.

Online Art Matters

On Friday 22nd September as summer draws to an end we are also
recommencing our online Art Matters for those that like to join us
from the comfort of their own home and not brave the elements. The
theme is currenly "Three blind mice". As Paula Rego’s work showed,
art based on Nursery rhymes can be sinister as well as joyful. We
invite you to make Art that relates to nursery rhymes – not only
Three blind mice. As before the idea is to chat about the subject
and if you have an example to share on the night please do.

Kind Regards,

Paul
