Dear members and friends,

1st Friday demonstration by Elaine Almond.

Just a reminder that we have our delayed 1st Friday demonstration
this Friday 12th May, 7pm at the Daylight Inn.

This is free to all members who additionally are most welcome to
bring along a colleague for a small entrance fee of £6.00.

This Friday is an exclusive live demonstration by Elaine Almond –
Acrylics and inks.

alt="">

Colourful, spiritual, sometimes quirky and inspired by nature and
life experiences, Elaine paints expressively in acrylics, inks,
uses collage and occasionally oils. She is an intuitive artist and
teacher, who loves abstract and semi-abstract forms. A former
psychotherapist and lay minister, she sees art as a means of
self-expression and emotional connection and is interested in how
ideas and feelings translate onto the canvas and how this affects
the individual. Paintings are mostly colourful, multi-layered, in
series with a common colour palette or theme.

Elaine works from her studio in West Kent, exhibits locally,
around the south east, at national art fairs, and was shortlisted
in the National Open Art competition in 2017. She offers
individual and group art classes, and is a member of the Pure Arts
Group and Sevenoaks Visual Arts Forum, Ginger Cactus Art
Collective and Sevenoaks Art Club. Her work is in private
collections in the UK, Eire and Canada.

Hope to see you there.

Last opportunity to put your name down to attend a special
workshop by Susan Clare Thursday 8th June.

Thank you for your interest shown so far. I have put everyone's
name down that have expressed interest in attending and I will
send out a confirmation to individuals soon. However there are
still just 3 or 4 places left for members. Priority will be given
to members but colleagues of members would also be welcome at the
same cost of approx £28pp if there is sufficient space. Please
let me know within the next week please.

A reminder of the details ...

Susan Clare was our 1st Friday demonstrator at the Daylight Inn.
Susan had excellent feedback and I have been asked if there could
be a follow-up workshop for members.

As Susan is still in England for the next month or so I have asked
if she could offer us a workshop. For this purpose I have
tentatively secured the Drawing Room at Ripley Art Centre on
Thursday 8th June 10am until 3pm.

The doors will open around 9:30 for the workshop to begin promptly
at 10am. There will be a break for lunch around 12 Noon - 1pm and
then the workshop will end promptly at 3pm. You are welcome to
bring your own lunch refreshments and both the Kitchen and the
gardens (which the Drawing room opens out onto) will be available
to us during the lunch break. The subject of the workshop can be
adapted at this stage but it is likely to be semi-abstract
acrylics. A required materials list to bring along will be
provided nearer the time.

This will be a non-profit event but one that we will never the
less need to charge for attending the workshop. We are looking for
an optimum of 15 people and places will be on a first come basis.

Entrance fee is likely to be around £28:00 pp for the day and will
need to be pre-booked.

This will be the first workshop that Bromley Art Society will have
staged, that I am aware of, so we need to gauge memberships
interest.

Therefore please let us know if you are interested in attending.
If we have sufficient people we will go forward with the booking.

Kind Regards,

Paul
