Dear Members,

Plans are well underway to offer you some great events for 2023
but here are the forthcoming events:

1st Friday 3rd February 7pm - 9pm.

Whilst the weather is still cold we have organised a unique
online Zoom demo by Paul Berryman - "an accurate figure drawing
from life using charcoal".

Paul will take us through his quick figure drawing practice,
giving his tried and trusted tips for accuracy, proportions and
time-management. He’ll be working on some live drawings (from
photos which he’ll share so we can see the source he’s working
from) and show us how he develops drawings of different durations.
Also he’ll run through his full charcoal inventory which he
assures me does a lot more than just make black lines!

Art Matters - "Old Masters" Online Friday 17th
February 7pm - 8pm

A note from Deborah. .."I thought we would go with Art Works
inspired by two very different figure based Old Master paintings

Option 1 Portrait of Omai - I guess we are likely to hear
more about this painting as the NPG tries to raise the funds to
keep him in the country -

Or Option 2 The Merode Altarpiece. Discovered in a book about
the history and meaning of Triptychs

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%A9rode_Altarpiece#/media/File:Annunciation_Triptych_(Merode_Altarpiece)_MET_DP273206.jpg

So we challenge you to create an art work inspired by the
paintings -

It could be a study of one of the figures? A modern
reinterpretation? A collage? Triptychs are fun to make and can be
as simple as card and masking tape or even folded card.

As usual you are very welcome to come along on the night even
if you haven't done your homework! But I hope that you will feel
inspired to try something out…

PS If any one is really struggling with downloading the images
then let Deborah or myself know and we I can email them to you.
