<p>Dear Members and colleagues,</p>
<p>It has been quite an eventful few weeks organising the events for
the last quarter of this year despite a few changes but I am
pleased to say we have a busy programme for you. <br>
</p>
<p><b>Ist Friday Event this Friday 7th October 7pm. A watercolour
demonstration by our very own Nishad Karim.</b></p>
<p>Many of you will have met Nishad displaying his work at our
exhibitions, at our online Art Matters and the occasional 1st
Friday events. Nishad is a very talented artist and a busy full
time primary school teacher. He is a keen supporter of Bromley Art
Society so I am particularly exited that he will be providing a
Watercolour demonstration this coming Friday with the emphasis on
the art of composition in his work. I urge you to visit his
website and see some of the fantastic work he does.

<p>Please join us on Friday 7th October at 7pm in the function room
at our Daylight Inn venue, Station Square, Petts Wood, Orpington,
BR5 1LZ. The demonstration will not commence at 7:30pm so we will
have the opportunity to meet other members, obtain refreshments
and settle before it starts. We will again have a half time break
and then finish between 9:30pm and 10pm.</p>
<p><b>Retrospective Exhibition of a selection of Malcolm Tait's
Artwork. - This Saturday 8th October, Old Church School, Hayes,
BR2 7BA, 10:30am - 4.30pm.<br>

<p>A reminder that we have an exhibition and sale of Malcolm's
artwork the day after. The Old Church School is part of his local
church St Mary the Virgin - Hayes, Kent which Malcolm regularly
attended and gave his strong support to. <br>
</p>
<p>Malcolm , as well as being a stalwart member of our society, was
a merchant seaman so ships and nautical themes was the inspiration
of much, but not all, of his artwork. All of the artwork will be
sold at greatly reduced prices but will go to a good cause. He
keenly supported the RLNI and it is for this reason that his
family have requested that all sale proceeds are donated equally
to the RLNI and Bromley Art Society. <br>
</p>
<p>Thank you to all who have offered help in setting up, stewarding
and taking down the exhibition so far. I will be there throughout
the day with refreshments. However I will still need a couple of
sturdy hands to set up the screens and artwork around 9am and then
taking them back down again at 4:30pm. We would also need a couple
more kind volunteers to steward and for a few hours during the

<p>Please come along and support the RLNI, Bromley Art Society and
your fellow members.</p>
<p><b>Changes to the committee</b></p>
<p>Thank you to all who responded to the appeal to join our
committee. I am over the moon to be able to say we have two new
volunteers, Julia Hughes, and Elizabeth Davis who will be helping
us on the committee. I am particular grateful to Julia who has
offered to take over the role as secretary as Jan Wilson retires
from that role but continues to be active on the committee.</p>
<p>However Jules Pew has recently resigned from the committee and
the role of treasurer. Jules had given her experience to the
committee and members of Bromley Art Society in so many ways over
many years. Jules role as treasurer has been particularly valuable
to the society in helping it to keep financially viable. Myself
and all the committee sincerely thank Jules for all her hard work
and excellent contributions over many years. <br>
</p>
<p>This again creates a shortfall on the committee. We have yet to
fully discuss and finalise some exciting changes next year but we
plan to review the current roles within the committee to bring it
in line with today's needs. We will of course need a treasurer,
which Deborah has kindly offered to oversee temporarily for which
I am extremely grateful, thank you Deborah. I also feel strongly
that we need to strengthen our ability to organise events
throughout the year to engage members and work with other groups.
Deborah is currently run ragged organising events for us and we
are of course limited to what time and energy we have on the
committee.</p>
<p>If you can give a little of you time please consider joining the
committee. It would be a great way to use your talents, meet and
help bring local artists together. We meet approximately 10 times
a year either on Zoom or at a live venue. If you can help please
contact me or speak to one of the committee. We will be there on
Friday at the Daylight Inn.</p>
