Dear Members,

Art Matters - Favourite Art Materials

For those members that like our online Art Matter's discussions I
am pleased to say that we will be holding our next one 7pm Friday
16th September which normally runs for about an hour. We shared
our favourite tools and materials a while back and picked up lots
of great tips for brushes, paper and other materials. Join us on
Zoom and share or discover others "material secrets". We can also
catch up and suggest themes for future meetings.

Zoom invite to follow.

Retrospective Exhibition of a selection of Malcolm Tait's
Artwork. - Saturday 8th October, Old Church School, Hayes.

Malcolm Tait was a stalwart supporter of our art society. Many
will remember him busying himself helping to organise our
exhibition displays and seeing him at our afternoon Wednesday Art
sessions and 1st Friday meetings. Following his sad passing and
the kind donation from his family of some of his artwork I am
pleased to announce that we will be holding a special exhibition
and sale of his artwork on Saturday 8th October at The Old Church
School, 86 Hayes Street, Hayes, BR2 7BA. This is part of his local
church St Mary the Virgin - Hayes, Kent which Malcolm regularly
attended and gave his strong support to. They have very kindly
allowed us to use this venue and a much reduced cost.

Malcolm was a merchant seaman so ships and nautical themes was
the inspiration of much, but not all, of his artwork. He keenly
supported the RLNI and it is for this reason that his family have
requested that all sale proceeds are donated equally to the RLNI
and Bromley Art Society. Most of the artwork will be sold at
greatly reduced prices.

More details to follow but we will need help setting up the
screens and artwork around 9am and then taking them back down
again at 5pm. We would also need some kind volunteers to steward
for a few hours during the day. If you are able please contact me
at Paul Stringfellow <membership@bromleyartsociety.org.uk>
Please come along and support the RLNI, Bromley Art Society and
your fellow members.

Daylight Inn venue

Our recent new venue for 1st Friday received
good feedback and as one of our members said "It felt like a nice
relaxed evening out and was easier for travelling". There were a
few problems we need to iron out but we hope to continue and offer
a different variety of events at this venue. Next month we are
hoping for a lively and colourful demonstration by Zsuzsanna. We
are are also hoping to have our Christmas event there. Watch this
space.

In a break to tradition we will take a break
from live 1st Friday venues throughout January to March whilst the
weather can be cold, wet and dark. Instead we may offer online
events which are popular with those that find it difficult to
travel to them, which includes one member who joined us from
Malta!
