<p>Dear Members,</p>
<p><b>Please join us in an exclusive interactive demonstration this
Friday.</b></p>
<p>Please join us this Friday 1st April 7pm on Zoom. Bromley Art
Society has organised an exclusive interactive online
demonstration just for our members by Ronnie Ireland. Ronnie, who
has exhibited amongst others places in Glasgow, Edinburgh,
Harrogate, Guildford and Farnham has studied at the Glasgow School
of Art and offers classes, lectures, demonstrations and workshops.
His figure paintings are as he quotes "my ways of trying to
understand the world. Often, the images which appear are ahead of
the understanding…..". Zoom link to follow.</p>
<p>"From early childhood, I always seem to have had a pencil in my
hand. My work investigates changing aspects of identity, whatever
the ostensible subject or approach. The viewer is always invited
to enter and complete the picture".<br>

<p>Ronnie will demonstrate two methods; a tonal approach and a free
expressive one.<br>

For our first online exhibition of the year we will be putting
together an exhibition of members work on the theme of “A
postcard from 2021” . We very much hope everyone will take some
time to create and share an artwork inspired by the theme.
Obviously most of us won’t have made it to the beach last year
but remember postcards come with all sorts of images on them, so
what would a postcard from Bromley look like? Did you spend last
year wishing you were somewhere else? Is there a message you
would like to send 2022 before it gets too old? Please create
something that could be produced as a postcard even if it isn't
postcard size - a postcard is generally 148mm by 105mm or
5.8inches by 4.2 inches or A6 in size. <br class="">
Handing in instructions are below

<div class="">At our last competition a number of people created
a series of works. We would welcome this again. As before we
will create a dedicated page on the website and give the
mailing list the opportunity for the mailing list to vote on
their favourite artists works with an aim to announce the
winning Artist on 22 April at a rearranged Art Matters
meeting.

Postcard from 2021</b><br class="">
<br class="">
Bromley Art Society invites members to submit works for
our second online exhibition with the overall title of “A
Postcard from 2021”.<br class="">
<br class="">
Works may be in any art medium, and in any size or format,
2D or 3D. Submission will in the form of a photograph of
the work. We are not planning for this to be a selling
exhibition. Exhibitors will have the option to include a
short text about their work and/or contact details but
this is not compulsory.<br class="">
<br class="">
Submissions must be made at the latest by Monday 11th
April - with a view to reporting back at the April Art
Matters meeting on 22 April (rearranged to accommodate
Easter) but we will post the work as it is received so
earlier is fine. We will vote by email as before and the
winner will be announced the Art Matters meeting and will
feature on the front page of our website. Voting details
will be sent nearer the time. The Committee will
adjudicate in the event of a draw.<br class="">
<br class="">
The exhibition is planned to be in place for a minimum of
2 months and I hope we will hold another competition later
in the year.<br class="">
<br class="">
As we don’t intend to have works for sale this time in
this instance it will be free for members to enter. Each
Member may submit up to 5 works.<br class="">
<br class="">
The small print<br class="">
<br class="">
The committee reserves the right to reject any work that
is not of sufficient standard or is otherwise unsuitable
for public display. Copyright in the works remains with
the artist but submission allows the Society to display
the work during the online exhibition and in advertising
material for the Society thereafter.<br class="">
<br class="">
Photography <br class="">
<br class="">
The photograph should show flat works without frames and
without glazing and should be cropped to include only the
work itself. 3D works should be sufficiently lit and have
an appropriate background if needed. If you can please
Photographs should have a resolution of at least 924 x 924
pixels - it really helps us if you have saved the image
with your name in the file name. If there are any
questions please let us know on <a
