<div>I'd always wondered where the likes of Lucien Freud got all those odd skin colours from until I attended a brilliant course at Gerald Moore gallery.  I think it was 3 or 4 days life drawing.  One afternoon the tutor told us to have just 3 colours of pastels - dark, medium and light.  Then just pick out the areas with the appropriate tones.  Hence purple cheeks, green nose and blue chin!  Absolutely brilliant and very effective.</div>
