Dear Members,

We have busy organising events for you over the recent months.

*Art Matters*

Firstly we have our Art Matters online Zoom discussion this Friday at
7pm. This week the theme is "MAPS". There are many artists that have
been inspired by cartography  in for portraits, sculpture and imaginary
worlds. Join us and share your work or just come along to participate in
the discussion. Zoom link to follow.

*St Mary's Exhibition*

I would like to thank Deborah for organising our first exhibition of
2022 at St Mary's and all those that participated, helped with the
stewarding, setting up and taking down and those that visited. This
takes an enormous amount of work to organise and we are very much
dependent on members participation. This was particularly so as the
church, whilst it has some fantastic architecture, stained glass windows
and fresco paintings, was in a difficult location for parking.  This,
although the exhibition was therefore "quiet", with Deborah's determined
organising skills and help from a few members, it helped forge our first
exhibition this year. The church made us very welcome with organisation,
tea, cake and biscuits and I almost became entangled in a knitting and
natter session. Thank you to every one involved.

Paul Stringfellow.

*BPP Exhibition (which was very successful last year and organised again
by Deborah with Emily)
*

As you are probably aware the Beckenham Place Park Art Show has become
an annual event. This is not a BAS exhibition though many members have
taken part. You will find below links to the form to apply to take part
in this year’s exhibition on Sunday 31 July. Previous exhibitors will be
given priority but there are still spaces available.

If you would like to take part please apply using one of the links below
by the 31 May so we can let successful applicants know well in advance.
The form includes all the information required at this stage but if you
have any questions please contact bppflowershowart at gmail.com

If you have a google account or are happy to sign up to one (most people
have one it seems even if they rarely use it as it's becoming a very
common way to gather information) please click on the link below:

We look forward to seeing your work and to this year's show.

*and finally after about two years .. an invitation to return to our
live 1st Friday events at  Ripley Arts Centre, **Friday 10th June at 7pm
- 9pm (doors open at 6:45pm).*

We are in the final stages of planning our come back to the 1st Friday's
at Ripley on 10th June at 7pm - 9pm (doors open at 6:45pm).  As we have
not had the opportunity to meet members in person for a while we decided
to make it an event made up of solely members in a "four corners" style
event. We will have members demonstrating their specialities including
Jo Harvey's Batik, Pencil drawings by Colin Barnett and art imaging and
projection techniques by Richard Waldron. We also plan to have a table
of interesting artists paraphernalia for you to try maybe a black mirror
used by Atelier artists, a camera obscurer, red filters to focus on
contrast and tones, concave lenses to create thumbnail images in the
field. If you have any interesting art equipment that you use please
bring it long and share for the evening*.

Members of the committee will be there to meet and chat to.  We plan to
have an extended break were we can socialise and meet each other in
person again. We are not sure of numbers at this stage so we have opted
to hire just the Music room with a table at the back for refreshments
and access to the garden. We will make tea, coffee and biscuits, cups
and saucers available on a self service basis. For those that prefer to
bring their own cups and refreshments please do so otherwise there will
be disposable cups for those that want to avoid using the available
tableware and washing up!

*R.S.V.P. please*

More to follow on our return to Ripley but for now we need to gauge how
many people will be attending so please respond to this invitation
directly to me at*Paul Stringfellow
<membership at bromleyartsociety.org.uk> *Please let us know if you will or
will not be attending.

* If you have any interesting items you would like to bring along please
contact me at Paul Stringfellow <membership at bromleyartsociety.org.uk>

Kind regards,
Paul
