Dear members,

*You are invited to our first live face to face Friday event for around
two years 7pm at :*

The Music room and Gardens of*
*

Ripley Arts Centre
24 Sundridge Avenue
Bromley
BR1 2PX

I have received your R.S.V.P.'s so please just turn up if you wish to
come along. You are most welcome to bring along a guest but we do ask
they contribute a £5.00 donation. In the spirit of our times any
Ukrainian artist friends will be free.

This year is our 75th anniversary so we decided to have an event
comprised wholly of members and friends. Bromley Art Society was formed
in 1947 to bring together local painters and sculptors, art teachers and
students, and all who share an appreciation of the fine arts. It is in
that spirit that this Friday we have three of our own members giving
talks and demonstrations in what we call a four corners event. The past
two years have been difficult in keeping our society going so please
come along if you can and renew your support.

The idea is that there will be four tables set up for different
demonstrations.  The 4th table will contain unusual artists aids or
"paraphernalia" that people can try out.. so if you have something
unusual yourself and willing to bring it along please do so.

We have:

Jo Harvey giving a talk and demonstrating Batik,

Colin Barnett demonstrating charcoal and chalks and

Richard Waldron demonstrating the projection techniques for realistic
images.

Each of the talks / demonstrations will start simultaneously with an
audience hopefully each of 6 - 7  people and expected to last about
20mins. Members will then be invited to move onto the next table and
demonstration when ready.  If all goes well there will be a break after
two demonstrations where refreshments will be available with access the
garden as well as the Music room were we can all mingle. We expect to
conclude shortly after 9pm.

David Goodier our very own camera man and projectionist will be taking
images of the demonstrations during the evening.

Biscuits, tea, coffee and fruit juices will be provided but you are
welcome to bring your own refreshments. To save on washing up,
disposable cups and plates will be provided but you are welcome to bring
your own personal cup or mug. Glasses and cups and saucers will also be
available from the kitchen if preferred but please wash, dry and put
them away if you use them.

I look very much forward to meeting you all in person.

*Postcard from 2021 competition.*

If you have not voted yet you still have time to do so in the next two
weeks. Please take a look at the members entries at
https://www.bromleyartsociety.org.uk/project-tag/a-postcard-from-2021/
then vote for your top *three* *artists*, 1 being you favourite, by
emailing  Deborah <exhibitions at bromleyartsociety.org.uk>. Results will
be announced at our next Art Matters event 24th June.....

*Art Matters Friday 24th June.*

With the arrival of summer and the start of exhibitions and other
diversions Deborah and I would like to take a break from our Art
Matters. This special "Trees in motion" art matters will be our last
until we plan to return in September when the cooler weather and darker
evenings return.

More to follow on this Art Matters but the idea is to show you a moving
image of trees for you to creatively form an image to share in real
time.  As always "homework free" images and discussions welcome.

Kind regards,

Paul
