Dear Members and friends,
We have made a few changes to our regular events as we come out of
lockdown and need to adapt to changing circumstances. In brief:
* Wednesday Sessions, we have changed the charging structure to ensure
they remain sustainable for our members.
* 1st Friday demonstrations will become more flexible with a possible
new venue, balanced with midweek and online sessions to cater for
changing members preferences following our membership survey last year.
* We need your help. The committee is strong with your help and
committed to continuing attracting your participation in the society
by organising a variety of events. However as a society we of course
depend on your support. For this purpose we would like to compile a
reserve of people that we could call upon to help us out. If you
wish to try joining our busy committee, with no commitments, if only
to see what we do that would be fantastic bonus.
In detail:
*Wednesday Sessions.*
Wednesday sessions now need to be booked and paid for in advance. With
the cost of rooms increasing we have had to increase the charge by just
50p to £6.00 per session. Additionally as the room has a limited
capacity we have had to limit the sessions by asking people to pre-book
in advance. We ask people now pay £26.00 per month on the first
Wednesday of each month (this is the equivalent of £6.00 per week over a
three month period). Unfortunately there is currently a waiting list to
join but there are still opportunities to try us out. Please contact me
if you are interested. There may be space in any one week due to
natural absences or If we have enough people we could consider a larger
venue.
*1st Friday events.*
We need to keep these lively and interesting for our society. Our survey
last year revealed a mix of preferences. For instance some like online
events and others did not and preferred meeting in person. To keep a
balanced repertoire of events we propose to mix it up a bit. During the
winter cold months we would look to favour the online interactive
sessions rather like our successful "Art Matters". In warmer summer
months we would favour the society meeting together face to face in a
variety of events. We are also going to trial a new alternative venue
hopefully in September. Watch this space but we may try a room in the
Daylight Inn at Pett's Wood. This we hope will be a much more convivial
location with all necessary amenities available to our members. *In
addition we ask if Friday is the best day for you or if another weekday
may be suitable* (another survey point we need to address). *Please
email us back with your constructive thoughts.*
*We need your help.*
Please contact us if you can help please. As I said the committee is
strong with your help and committed to continuing attracting your
participation in the society by organising a variety of events. However
as a society we of course depend on your support. For this purpose we
would like to compile a reserve of people that we could call upon to
help us out. If you wish to try joining our busy committee, with no
commitments, if only to see what we do that would be fantastic bonus. We
need help with exhibitions, events, publicity, contacts and help with
organisation of all kinds in general. In addition a few of the committee
members, after many dedicated years, would like to pass on their baton ,
which they have carried so well onto another person more familiar with
today's technology. Why not just see what we get up to and meet the
committee and other members in a social at the Daylight Inn at Pett's
Wood in August. You would be most welcome. Just let me know please and I
will organise it.
Kind regards,
Paul.
Your serving chairman.
