Dear All

One Step Greener Competition

For our second online exhibition of the year we will be putting together an exhibition of members work on the theme of “One Step Greener”. We very much hope everyone will take some time to create and share an artwork inspired by the theme. The Climate Emergency is of course something that there is growing awareness of and I have “borrowed” this title from the COP26 conference taking place in November. Individual works should reflect this theme but need not have that title and you may wish to use recycled materials in your work. Any media welcome – making the most of the freedom that online will give us.

Handing in instructions are below:

Art Matters: Friday 15th October 7pm

In keeping with the theme of our competition the subject for this meeting will be Endangered Species. As usual any media or interpretation is acceptable and you are welcome to join us even if you have not “done your homework” The zoom invite will be sent nearer the time.

Plein Air/Urban Sketching

Watch this space for an update on further dates.

Handing in Instructions for One Step Greener

Bromley Art Society invites members to submit works for our second online exhibition with the overall title of “One Step Greener”.

Works may be in any art medium, except photography, and in any size or format, 2D or 3D. Submission will in the form of a photograph of the work. We are not planning for this to be a selling exhibition. Exhibitors will have the option to include a short text about their work and/or contact details but this is not compulsory.

Submissions must be made at the latest by Sunday 31 October 2021 - which coincidentally happens to be the first day of the COP26 conference in Glasgow, but we will post the work as it is received so earlier is fine. We will vote by email as before and the winner will be announced during November and will feature on the front page of our website. Voting details will be sent nearer the time. The Committee will adjudicate in the event of a draw.

The exhibition is planned to be in place for a minimum of 2 months and I hope we will hold another competition for the new year.

As we don’t intend to have works for sale this time in this instance it will be free for members to enter. Each Member may submit 1 work.

The small print

The committee reserves the right to reject any work that is not of sufficient standard or is otherwise unsuitable for public display. Copyright in the works remains with the artist but submission allows the Society to display the work during the online exhibition and in advertising material for the Society thereafter.

Photography

The photograph should show flat works without frames and without glazing and should be cropped to include only the work itself. 3D works should be sufficiently lit and have an appropriate background if needed. If you can please Photographs should have a resolution of at least 924 x 924 pixels and no more than 1200 on the longest edge and in .jpg format and it really helps us if you have saved the image with your name in the file name. If there are any questions please let us know on exhibitions at bromleyartsociety.org.uk.

Publicity

Due to the current situation we will not be able to rely on flyers and posters so we will be reliant on social media and word of mouth for publicity. We will post on our facebook/Instagram/twitter groupa but please, we also rely on you to spread the word. Please contact us if you can help. We will use images of your entries in the Society publicity.
