Matters*
With galleries beginning to reopen next week we thought it would be a
good time to get some inspiration and discuss one of the topics
suggested last year: "My Favourite Gallery". As gallery going will
probably need to be a less spontaneous thing for a while what would you
recommend? Do you have a favourite painting? Did you know about the
Constable paintings in the V&A? What about the Turner galleries in the
Tate? What about the less well known museums? Would you recommend the
Garden Museum? The Estorick? The Whitechapel Art Gallery? The Queens
Gallery? For this week let’s focus on galleries in London or within a
day trip’s distance of home. With numbers beginning to fall at the Art
Matters meeting as the weather has improved and lockdown has begun to
lift we are proposing to move the meeting to being a monthly one -
however we are proposing one last practical challenge for May. As you
may be aware we are hoping to run the Beckenham Place Park exhibition
later in the year (definitely online but hopefully also physical) the
theme for this will be Park Life. So Deborah is suggesting a theme of
"In the Park" (and NB bluebells have been sighted in both Forster
Memorial Park and Beckenham Place Park so this could be a subject - but
as usual any medium and any interpretation is admissible). Zoom details
at foot of email. *Last Fridays Watercolour demo - did you have a go
yourself? *Last Fridays watercolour by Tim Wilmot was popular and well
attended. If anyone attempted a paint along (during or after the live
session, as the video recording is on our website) we would be very
interested. If you would like to submit it to Tim for feedback please
send it to Paul Stringfellow <membership at bromleyartsociety.org.uk> by
tomorrow evening otherwise we would love to see it if you just bring it
along to this Fridays Art Matters. *BAS Website Gallery*** Deborahwill
also be circulating how to have your works included in the website
gallery this week. So watch this space. Kind Regards, Deborah and Paul
