[BAS Newsletter] Ring out the Old, Ring in the New

The BAS year is ending and we hope you will rejoin next year - and
encourage others to do the same. We shall be "bringing artists together"
as we have done since 1947.

When your 4 year old grandson offers, in his own words, a "virtual hug"
you know that the world has really changed. Despite the miserable virus,
we know from your comments that many of you have enjoyed our online
events. We are going to continue those, but with one eye on returning to
physical meetings when possible. Perhaps we shall have both. A much
reduced committee has worked very hard behind the scenes to cope with
this year and to prepare for the next and I'm really grateful to them.
Details of the programme will follow but we are trying to remain flexible.

It would be very helpful if you could renew now, and not all in a rush
next year. Also, payment by bank transfer would be much easier for our
treasurer than cheques. Please help her if you can! Details below.
Please encourage your friends to join us too. New members are the future
of any society like ours, and finding them has been another casualty of
our locked down existence.

Many of our costs have continued despite the lack of physical meetings,
and our income has fallen because we have had no exhibitions. Our
membership fee is going to remain low at £35, but we are going to ask
you to consider that as a minimum. Please help the Society, if you can,
by paying a higher membership fee.

One event we have decided on already for early next year is an online
exhibition. We shall be inviting entries on the theme "Ring in the New".
Details to follow, but you can let those creative juices start to flow.

Let's make 2021 special!

* Due to current covid - 19 restrictions we are focusing on and
