Dear All

An update on the Ripley Exhibition and a few links to keep us entertained over the coming weeks.

I am still missing a few replies from people who are due refunds following the cancellation of the Ripley exhibition. A big thanks to those of you who have already replied and an even bigger thanks to those of you who have donated the fee to the Society.

The following are some websites and links that I have found interesting. I am sure many of you will already have come across them, but if not they are well worth a look.

Drawing Challenges

Urban Sketchers London

They are running a 30 day indoor sketching challenge. I posted the link on our facebook account yesterday but the web address is here https://urbansketchers-london.blogspot.com

Artists Network

On a similar theme this link relates to a different sort of everyday sketching

https://www.artistsnetwork.com/art-mediums/drawing/drawing-prompts-for-everyday-sketching/?utm_campaign=Artists%20Network&utm_medium=email&_hsmi=85029516&_hsenc=p2ANqtz-8LjrFUxL3AsYilTcvOCci5M0hFl4TUPzjcCwK2M-t05d6se0KElrRRwydvpxVzR_1mKiDQ&utm_content=85029516&utm_source=hs_email

www.artistsnetwork.com is from the publisher of the US equivalent of Artists and Illustrator, Leisure Painter etc - and has a good collection of images and ideas.

Life Drawing

If you are missing your life drawing class

The Royal Academy still has a free life drawing class on line https://www.royalacademy.org.uk/article/online-life-drawing-class-lifedrawinglive
I have also been recommended Croquis Cafe which has videos of models in traditional life drawing poses - does 2 minute poses etc.. I must admit that it doesn't do much for me, but some OCA Students swear by it. Ignore anything asking you to create an account with vimeo you should be fine to run the videos for free.

Exhibitions

If you are missing the Art exhibitions there are lots of opportunities out there even if you will need to provide your own coffee and cake. A key one is

Google Arts and Culture https://artsandculture.google.com. I am not sure how I had missed this one before- the opportunities are immense. Not only Art and Exhibitions that we will be familiar with but the collections of museums I suspect most of us will never get to see - The National Museum of Mongolia anyone? There is lots to explore.

Also dont forget that most museums will have online access to some of their collection. ArtUK.org is another treasure trove of images.

Facebook, Instagram and the website

Dont forget our own Facebook account https://www.facebook.com/groups/bromleyartsociety/. Thanks to Terry Wingfield for posting his current WIP. It would be great to see some more members work there. Also thanks to Emily for continuing to post work that we were intending to exhibit at Ripley so we do still have a virtual exhibition. https://www.instagram.com/bromleyartsociety/?hl=en.

And finally dont forget the BBC Iplayer often has old Arts Documentaries that don’t seem to have been shown on terrestrial TV recently.

Has anyone else have any good suggestions to share?

Keep well. Keep washing your hands and Keep making Art

Deborah
