Friday 7th March sees our next "First Friday" event. Unusually we have 3
activities. See also the important notes that follow!

Our demonstration
=================

In Zsuzsanna's own words:

I will be doing a demo of WATERY ABSTRACT, a water-inspired
semi-abstract on a canvas I pre-ruined at home: an old canvas
overpainted and overtextured, helping me stay abstract. I will be
working with heavy body acrylics, sponges and knives, as well as drippy
acrylic ink (using dippers and fan brush and hair dryer). I will begin
the work on a standing easel, but for the inky bits might lay it flat on
a table and use the hair dryer. The process actually allows for several
short gaps, when a layer needs to dry, when I stop and explain things.
The exact subject: not sure yet if I will be doing a crashing wave on a
seashore or a more peaceful waterlily picture. Will bring photos and
sketches for both.

Bring and Buy sale
==================

Please donate any art-related items that you don't want - perhaps from
Christmas? We shall sell them at reduced but not giveaway prices to
raise money for BAS. We need to start thinking about replacing our
exhibition screens and projector. So you have time to go scrabbling in
your loft to find it all.

A Brief AGM
===========

Agenda - full version will be available.

  * MINUTES OF LAST AGM (1st. February 2019)
  * CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
  * SECRETARY’S REPORT
  * TREASURERS REPORT
  * ELECTION OF OFFICERS
  * PRESENTATION OF THE PAT TUCKER CUP

We still need some people to help on the committee! Drop me an email if
you are interested.

Important Notes
===============

We are starting earlier than usual to accommodate three events, in
particular the "bringing" part of the bring and buy sale. The meeting
will run from 7 pm to 10 pm, Friday 7th March at Ripley Arts Centre, 24
Sundridge Avenue, Bromley. BR1 2PX

COVID-19: At present there is no reason to cancel the meeting. Public
Health England state (checked today, 2/3/2020) "There is currently
little evidence that people without symptoms are infectious to others."

  * If you are ill and do not know why, please don't come to the meeting.
  * I suggest we suspend the usual politeness of hand shaking and / or
    kissing to increase everyone's comfort.
  * Hand hygiene - ie washing hands frequently - remains the best way to
    reduce spread. Did you know there is a national policy on how to do it?

  * If you have travelled recently see:
    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-specified-countries-and-areas

It's the first time I have had to put that in a newsletter!

I hope that flyers for the forthcoming exhibition and other docuements
will be on the website by this evening.
