Your committee met this evening - virtually of course. I am very excited
to be able to tell you that we are re-opening in a limited manner.
*Fridays*
We shall have a demonstration this coming *Friday 10th July*
Let me say right away that this is an experiment to see how far the
technology will take us, which is why we are able to offer it at such
short notice.
Zsuzsanna has very kindly offered to provide a short but live
demonstration from 7.30 pm for about 30 mins
We shall be using Zoom. To be able to see the demonstration you will
need a smartphone, tablet or computer of some sort. You can ask
questions at the end if you have a microphone, or by typing in the text
box. If you have not used Zoom, it can be downloaded from
https://zoom.us for free, but you will need to register.
I shall circulate the link / invitation for the meeting later.
/Etiquette/:
1) When you are not talking, please *switch off your microphone* - there
is a "mute" button in the Zoom screen. On my system it appears at the
bottom of the screen when the mouse is moved over it. I believe that on
some systems it is at the top. With several dozen microphones on there
is bound to be too much background noise on one.
2) If you want to talk, please send me a message using the chat facility
in Zoom, or the "raise your hand" button.
3) We may have to ask you all to *switch off your videos* to avoid
overload on some PCs. You should still be able to see the demo. We won't
know until we try it
*Wednesdays*
We are investigating an alternative format for the "Wednesday" meetings,
whilst Ripley is unavailable. I shall report soon!
