Bromley Art Society's "First Friday" programme for 2020 starts this
Friday, the 7th February. Some of our demonstrators have had to pull out
and others have volunteered to take their place. What was to have been
four corners is now an unusual three corners. The idea is that you visit
each corner in turn. The demonstrators will be:
+ Diana McKinnon, demonstrating Machine Embroidery, I think of a
Woodland Scene.
+ Alistair Payne, working in clay, making a bull.
+ I shall be bringing up the rear with a demonstration of digital art,
mainly around greeting cards. Assuming my laptop stops crashing!
The formal start to the event will be at 8 pm, but we meet first at 7.30
pm for a chat. I would like members to feel free to bring sketchbooks or
small works for the first part of the evening to swap notes or chat
about progress. There are also often exhibitions to see at Ripley.
Our meetings take place at Ripley Arts Centre, 24 Sundridge Avenue,
Bromley. BR1 2PX. Guests are welcome for a small fee.
----------------------------------------
Several members of your Committee are also stepping down for various
reasons, and by chance quite a few at once. I would ask all of you to
consider whether you can spare the time to help us - or whether,
eventually, you can watch whilst BAS withers away. We particularly need
a membership secretary, help with choosing and running the Friday
programme and help running the Wednesday sessions at Ripley. Please come
and talk to me if you are interested in helping or drop me an email -
and if you don't fancy those jobs we can always find work for helpers.
As a separate matter we could do with more people on our exhibition
hanging squad.
