Hi Christine,
I also cannot make the earlier time for the zoom meetings. I have had to miss both meetings so far. It’s a great way to have our meetings but I’d have preferred it to stay at the normal time.

Apologies. Won’t be there this evening as I’ll be at a barbecue at my daughter’s. Not keen on the time in any case. Would prefer later in the evening as before. How do others feel about this? Hope it goes well. Chris R

One of our members, has kindly agreed to put on an extra "First Friday" demo for us this coming Friday 7th August.
Mania Row, Artist and Adult Art Educator, will introduce her own art practice and demonstrate how to make an Accordion Book as an Artful thinking space
The timing is different from usual. As an experiment we are starting and finishing much earlier, which I think will be more convenient for online events. Let me know!
The formal part of the meeting will be from 18:00 - 20:00 with a break. I shall try to be online from 17:30 or at least sometime before the talk so that members can chat as we did in face to face meetings.
Mania notes "Members might like to have a long piece of paper ( can be joined up to make this length ) 6 to 8 inches by 30 to 40 inches long so that they can make the Accordion book with me once I have demonstrated how to do this". You won't need it during the demo, but the full project requires scissors, white glue, a cup of water and a brush, tape and collage materials. The long piece of paper can be assembled from scraps of different recycled paper.
Zoom etiquette: 1) Zoom clerverly detects who is speaking and highlights their video feed for all the other users. Usually good, but if you cough, rustle a crisp packet or your spouse speaks it will focus on you. Not good. The way round this is to mute your microphone when not speaking. This also prevents audio feedback on occasions. Mania is happy to take questions during the session, for which of course you will need to unmute.
2) Please join with a name I can recognise. We need to be wary of non members joining who can see our camera feeds, and if I need to invite you into the conversation I have to know who you are.
3) There is a chat facility built into Zoom, which is useful for letting the chair / host (me) know that you wish to speak, or for clarifying points without interrupting the speaker. Hover your mouse near the bottom of the screen and a toolbar appears. The chat icon is on this.
These are the skills needed in this Covid world....
This will be our second BAS Zoom meeting and we are already getting into making things with the demonstrator. It should be fun. The Zoom invitation details follow
