Our "First Friday" event for July is a demonstration by Melanie
Cambridge of a Venice scene in Watercolour. Lots of blue then.
Melanie is one of our members in BAS, and has demonstrated to us many
times over the years in different media and styles. You can see some of
her work at www.melaniecambridge.co.uk. Another interesting facet is
that Melanie has developed her own range of paints. She has delved into
the chemistry which of course I find fascinating. Equally fascinating,
and I hope Mel won't mind me saying it, is that some have not done well
commercially and some have. It should be an interesting evening.
7.30 pm for 8 pm start, at Ripley Arts Centre, Friday 5th July. Friends
always welcome.

-------------------------------------

We had a very pleasant day at Beckenham Place Park on Sunday, as part of
the Flower Festival. Our exhibition, on a floral theme, showed Bromley
Art Society's customary diversity of style and medium. We made quite a
few sales I understand, and perhaps we shall have the figures in time
for Friday. The Park itself has been transformed since I last went. The
golf course has gone and we had food stalls, picnics and music in its
place. There is a new lake about to open, ditto the car park. The
official opening is on 20th July and it looks like a place to watch.
Plenty to paint or sketch. See both www.beckenhamplace.org and
beckenhamplacepark.co.uk

-------------------------------------

I have had a busy month and not had time to create the technical notes
following the last demonstration - I hope I still can.

-------------------------------------

Maggie has asked me to remind members that Frames and Art, our local art
shop in Bromley, offers a 10% discount to BAS members on production of
their membership card. http://framesandart.co.uk/

-------------------------------------

Debbie has asked me to circulate details of sketching days, which I have
done in a separate email.

Hope to see many of you on Friday!
