I enjoyed our Christmas party last evening. Let me first thank those who
made it happen:
Jan Wilson and Gilly Hewstone for the feast, and to all those who helped
serve and clear too.
Maggie Ward for the quiz - but why do those 19thC Frenchman all look the
same?
Thank you All!
I have made a note to myself to look up more about 3 of the artists (one
neither French nor man) whose works were new to me and attract me

It was great to see everyone socialising around the tables once the
formalities were complete. It has been suggested that we should do more
socialising and discussing of each other's works. Peter Tamm was the
first. It was for this reason that we started the First Friday meetings
at 7.30pm instead of 8pm. Do come early, and bring a sketchbook or small
works to show others what you are up to. We shall have a formal "Crit"
evening next year as part of the programme, but these smaller
opportunities to discuss in small groups are also valuable.
Don't forget that there is no First Friday in January, so we next all
meet on Friday 7th February 2020. The Wednesday meetings will resume
before that, on Wednesday the 8th January 2020.
And an early warning: We shall have an exhibition at Ripley in late
March. Details will of course follow.
As your Chairman, I feel I should have been able to advise you how to
vote on Thursday. But you are on your own! I can't see a single mention
of The Arts in any of the manifestos.
Have a Great Christmas
Adrian
