We have yet more new members - Welcome!
Rather a long email I'm afraid - but there is much to report
1) The Glades results
2) The Glades celebration 7/11/2018
3) Bromley Art Fair 10/11/2018
4) St Andrews 1 - 2/12/2018
5) Exhibitions for 2019
I will write again with details of our next speaker. You might also like
to have a look at our new website, which now has some content with more
to follow.
A reminder that both the new and old sites are up at present. We have a
number of temporary email addresses in use whilst the switchover takes place

The Glades
==========
Total sales were £5,388
We sold over 150 cards and 70+ works of art/craft. There were 3-4
commissions
51 Artists took part – 17 new members and I have forgotten how many the
increase was in total.
3 exhibitions – 3 hanging days and take down days, 3 private views and
one formal demo – but lots of informal ones.
Public response was almost universally positive
The Deputy Mayor and a number of Bromley councilors joined us at the
3rd Private View
The Glades are happy for us to return in the future
We had a good time and met some new friends.
Celebration
===========
At members' request, we are organising some social events in addition to
our usual meetings. The first of these has been arranged as a
celebration of our success in The Glades. So please join us for a drink
as follows
Wednesday 7 November 7pm-9pm
Miller and Carter
Pickhurst Lane, West Wickham, BR4 0HH
So we can confirm numbers with the bar staff could you please RSVP to
Deborah basexhibitions at gmail.com
Bromley Art Fair
================
This is an experimental one day popup event in the Glades, by
invitation. It is an addition to our advertised programme. If it is
successful we may do more.
St Andrews
==========
Thanks to Elizabeth Davis we once again have the opportunity to exhibit
at St Andrew’s, Burnt Ash Lane on 1-2 December.
If you weren’t involved last year this is a more traditional Art Society
exhibition, we will exhibit in the church alongside a Christmas Fair in
the Church Hall next door. The Church is opposite a row of shops,
including Waitrose. Free parking is available and the church is on
several bus routes. For those of you who took part last year the shops
are not holding their own Christmas event this year but we still expect
the Christmas Fair to attract additional visitors.
There will be an option this year to exhibit crafts, though space may be
limited as the church fair will require most of the tables.
I will circulate the final timetable and handing in details shortly but
we are expecting the timetable to look like this:
Handing in
tbc
Saturday 1 December
· 9-10am last chance for people to drop off works and final hang
· 10-5 exhibition open to the public
Sunday 2 December
· 11.30-5pm exhibition open to the public
· Sunday service 10.30 all welcome
· 5-6pm Collection of unsold work
Monday 3 December tbc
Church will be open for a short time as an additional time to collect
unsold work.
All artists taking part must take part in stewarding or set up of the
exhibition or arrange a nominee to do this on their behalf.
So that I can arrange the delivery of the screens could anyone who is
interested in taking part or exhibiting craft work please email
basexhibitions at gmail.com by 1 November.

Exhibition Organiser, basexhibitions at gmail.com
PS I am also involved in the planning of a Christmas Fete at the
Archibald Corbett Community Library in Catford. This is not a Bromley
Art Society event but if members are interested in exhibiting in a new
location please contact me at the above address. It will probably be of
more interest to Crafters as screen space will be very limited. Dates
are being confirmed but it is expected to take part in the last half of
November. For more on the venue see the website:

[Ed - From what I remember, crafts and small, traditional art works sold
best at this event last year. Christmas presents I presume. Adrian]
2019 Exhibitions (Provisional)
==============================
Ripley end March – mid May –private view and a demo by Emil Nikola
following the popularity of the one at the Glades
The Beckenham Place Park Flower Show [Not A BAS event, but we helped
out] will happen again this year and they intend to do another Art
Exhibtion so watch this space. This was very well attended last year and
18 works sold during one afternoon.
